WHERE I STAND
Quality of Life.
Affordable housing is one of the most urgent challenges in Virginia, especially here in Virginia Beach. Rising rents, property costs, and utility bills are pushing longtime residents and working families out of the communities they’ve helped build.
As someone who’s experienced housing insecurity myself, I know how quickly a job loss or rent hike can derail your entire life. And I know that when policies out of Washington—or Richmond—ignore working families, places like ours pay the price.
Virginians deserve wages they can live on, not just survive on. Service industry workers, veterans, caregivers, and contractors make this city run — yet too many are one emergency away from losing everything.
Affordable housing near job centers and transit, not just luxury development near the beach; Vocational training and career pathways that don’t bury people in debt; Support for small businesses — from food trucks and surf shops to contractors and mechanics.
We can’t build a future by pricing out the people who hold it together.
Healthcare.
Access to affordable, quality healthcare is not just a right—it’s essential to building a healthy community and a strong economy. Every patient deserves to make healthcare decisions with their doctor, confident that their privacy, dignity, and autonomy will be respected.
I stand with women, doctors, and families in making the healthcare decisions that are right for them. Politicians have no place in the exam room. We must protect the rights of women to make their own healthcare choices—including access to contraception, cancer screenings, maternity care, and abortion services. These are fundamental aspects of healthcare and must remain accessible, safe, and protected.
Managing healthcare and prescription drug costs is also critical to addressing the broader cost-of-living crisis. We need to prioritize policies that lower these costs so that every family can stay healthy without breaking the bank.
Education.
Fully Funded public schools ensure a thriving community where every child—no matter their zip code—deserves a high-quality public education. This means ensuring our schools are fully funded and that teachers are paid what they are worth. Great schools depend on the commitment of great teachers who choose to stay in our community.
All students deserve safe, inclusive learning environments where they feel supported and are equipped to thrive. Education should be grounded in facts and designed to prepare students to think critically and independently.
Protecting our Coastal Community.
As a coastal community, we face growing challenges from extreme weather and rising sea levels that put our water infrastructure at risk. That’s why it’s critical to ensure our drinking water remains clean, safe, and protected from contamination caused by pollution and under-regulated industries.
To safeguard our future, we need pragmatic policies and smart incentives that promote conservation and prevent reckless development—development that puts our communities, environment, and quality of life at risk. That includes preserving our parks, wetlands, and coastlines, which are home to the wildlife and natural beauty that make Virginia Beach such a special place to live. Protecting these green spaces is essential not only for the environment, but also for our health, economy, and community well-being.
